Sony is set to take on Samsung and LG in the 8K and 4K TV market with a new ‘Master’ line.
At the top end of their 4K range is the Master A9G 4K TV which incorporates an LG OLED panel.
Sony claims that the OLED panel is “approaching that of a professional-grade monitor.”
Features include the company’s Picture Processor X1 Ultimate processing technology, Pixel Contrast Booster for more colour and contrast in bright areas, Netflix Calibrated Mode and IMAX Enhanced with DTS audio.
According to sources Sony, Hisense TCL and Panasonic who are sourcing their OLED panels from LG are still not getting the ‘top end” OLED panels found in the LG top end OLED models.
The new Sony TV’s are set to ship in June Set to ship in 65- and 55-inch sizes prices have not been set.
The Sony Z9G 8K HDR TV is set to feature the X1 Ultimate processor, as well as Backlight Master Drive with full-array local dimming and 8K X-tended Dynamic Range Pro.
ChannelNews has been told that the 8K panel is also being sourced from LG.
It will ship in the second half and is tipped to be priced at around $16K
